Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Sidney’s POV

Marc-Andre jumped up, craning his head outside the door, but the reporter was already gone. I sat there, in  shock.

“I thought all the reporters were gone..” I said, I couldn’t believe it. No matter what newspaper he’s from, he’ll post it. And when one reporter posts something, all the newspapers will show it. I hope they didn’t get a good luck of Calli’s face…I didn’t want them to bother her.

“They’re supposed to be. He shouldn’t have been here and just walk in without knocking.” Marc trailed off. “But in the end, they still got the picture.”

“How fast do you think it’s going to spread?” I asked, knowing it didn’t make a difference in the end though, it would all be out.

“Judging by how close you two were, probably tonight or tomorrow morning.”

I groaned, this is all I-we- need. I nudged Calli gently, “Darling, we need to go now. Can you walk until we get out? Then I’ll carry you I promise.”

Her eyes flew open, but they were still filled with sleep. She stood up unsteadily, wiping her eyes and walking in the general direction of the door. I put my arm around her waist and practically pulled her along. Marc-Andre quickly went to the other side of her, keeping an eye out for any more reporters. As soon as we got out of the arena, I kept my promise and scooped her up in my arms, putting her in the front seat of my Range Rover. I drove back to Mario’s house, my hands drumming nervously on the wheel the whole time. I can’t believe I was this irresponsible, I should have known better. If anyone bugs Calli about this, I’ll do something. Fine, I won’t know what I’ll do, but I will do something. She managed to stay awake for the ride back, but I have a feeling this was something more than just being tired. That there’s something she isn’t telling me. I wrapped my arm around her waist again, and sat her down in a stool in the kitchen. Mario was drinking a cup of coffee, watching SportsCenter.

“Sid, is something wrong?” he asked concerned.

“First, there’s something wrong with Calli, and I’m sure not  what it is, but I think I have a good idea. And a media guy got a picture of us.”

He nearly spit out his coffee, “How?!”

I sighed, “Well, we were in the locker room with Flower and she fell asleep on my lap. It was just the three of us..but then a flash went off. We couldn’t track down the guy.”

“Is there anyway you could pass it off as friends?” He asked, staring at me.

“Unless if most friends have her arms draped around my neck, and if I stroke most of my friend’s hair.” I stated matter of factly.

“ I see,” he grinned for a split second, “you don’t do it that with most friends.” His expression turned serious again. “We can worry about this later, but right now you need to find out what’s wrong with your girlfriend.”

I nudged Calli, “Calligirl, what did you have for breakfast this morning?”

“Um, coffee?”

I sighed, “And what for lunch?”

“I slept through lunch..”

“And for dinner?”

“A salad and piece of bread.” She replied.

“So you’ve only had one insulin shot today?” I asked and she nodded. “Do you have some in your bag?”

Mario’s eyes flashed up to mine, “She just needs some insulin, sleep, and eat good three meals tomorrow. She’s alone at her house right now..could she come sleep in my room? I promise nothing will happen.”

He nodded, “Of course.” I got the insulin shot out of her bag and handed it to her. She sighed and injected it. I nodded to Mario, before taking her hand and leading her up to my room. “If you don’t mind, you’ll sleeping in my room tonight. If you want I’ll sleep on the couch.”

She mumbled, “No, no I think I’ll sleep better in your arms.” I smiled slightly, I dug through my drawers.

“Here, you can change into these.” I handed her a pair of my old boxers and a t-shirt. I looked away, making myself not peek, while she change. She crawled into bed and I pulled the covers over us. I wrapped my arms around her, and she put her head on my chest, her crazy black hair spread all over me.

“I love you Hockeyhunk.”

A smile stretched across my face “I love you too, Calligirl.”
