Chapter 19

Sorry that it's so late guys! After horse camp, I helped let out all of the horses and then went on a trail ride with Amanda (my horse riding best friend). Then I had to go to my job (exercising, grooming, and feeding horses). I then had my two sisters (my best friends) come over and we attempted to watch a scary movie. Expect an update right after camp tomorrow, so around 3ish! Have a great night everyone, I hope it's filled with dreams about Sid!

Chapter 19

Carey Price. Carey fucking Price. We went to the same goalie game the summer I was turning 16. I was stupid and wanted a boyfriend. It was a summer fling for me, but when I broke up with him, he took it harder then I thought. He pleaded and begged that we could say together. He said him going to the NHL wouldn’t drive us apart. Honestly, I almost forgot that we dated that one summer. We never talked or saw each other anymore. He was thrilled to see me, I was horrified.

I jumped back from his hug. “C-c-carey.” I stuttered, having a hard time breathing. Whenever I freaked out, my asthma kicked it. Sidney was just staring at me, I couldn’t tell if he was pissed off or  not.

“You look great! I hear you’re playing goalie for the Pittsburgh Panthers. How long are you here for? Maybe we could go out for a dinner….”He gushed. That did it, Sidney’s face turned mad.

Freaking out, I did the only thing I though of. “Um I’m um having an asthma attack, I’m just going to go fix that.” I stuttered before forcing myself to walk to the bathroom. Almost instantly I pulled out my phone, and after just a ring Raina picked out. “So how’s Canada going?” she asked, but sounding distracted. I could tell she was reading a magazine, so I practically shrieked. “Rains! Put the magazine down! Carey Price just gave me a hug INFRONT of Sid!”

“Oh shit…” she muttered. I know I might be overreacting a bit, but when your ex-boyfriend who happens to play a goalie in the NHL meets your new boyfriend who also happens to be in the NHL, things can’t get more worse.

“Um ok, tell me EXCATLY what he said and did.” She demanded. I quickly explained it ot her and once again she repeated. “Oh shit…”

“Ok Cals, don’t panic. Is there any way you can get out of there like right now?”

I shook my head even though she couldn’t see me. “No, I can’t. I’m supposed to be with him and the team at dinner.”

“Hmm ok, were you just going to the bathroom or did you have an excuse?”
“I told them I needed to try and get my asthma under control, which is kinda true.” I admitted before pulling out my inhaler.

“Stay in there for 20 more minutes. Come back and tell him everything under control. He is going to be distant, but he won’t make a scene in front of every one. Act as normal as possible, but don’t draw attention to yourself. And remember, everything you tell him in private will probably end up getting heard from the team because they saw everything too.” She listed off, trying to calm me down.

“Okay, I love you honey. Good luck and call me when you get a chance!” She said encouragingly before hanging up. I paced up and down the hallways, too nervous to do anything else. After twenty minutes was up, I walked back to the table staring at my shoes the whole time and slid into my seat next to Sidney.

“Are you ok?” Sidney asked tensely. I just nodded me head.

The whole dinner was awkward. Sid and I barely talked to each other, but chatted with other team members. With dread I got in the car with him and drove back to the hotel. To my surprise, he was quiet on the way home. But he was too quiet, he wasn’t teasing me and we weren’t laughing like we normally did. We got into the hotel room and I sat softly on the bed, finally breaking the silence. “I’m sorry Sid.”

“How do you know him.” He said coldly, not even turning around.

“I came up here for a camp the summer I was turning 16. We met and we dated for the summer, but I broke up with him when I had to go home. I swear I haven’t talked to him since then.” I replied, hoping it was enough. But of course it wasn’t.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me?” He asked darkly, starting to under his tie now.

I stared at the pattern on the carpet. “Honestly, I forgot and I’ve had a lot of different boyfriends. I didn’t think this one would be much different.”

He spun around angrily, “You damn right knew it was different! That’s why you didn’t tell me! Price is a jackass Calli.” He finished and then turned around again. “Did you sleep with him?”

                  “Sid is that really neces-“

                  “Answer the question Calli.”

“I suppose once or twice, but it’s nothing I swear!” I admitted.

He turned around again. His expression wasn’t mad, it was worse. It was just this cold, distant look.

“My dad was right, you’re just a puck bunny.” He said before slamming the door behind him, leaving my heart shattered.
