Chapter 15
I got off the airplane and dragged my bags to the team bus. I was already incredibly nervous meeting his parents tonight. They’re going to hate me and it’s going to awkward and embarrassing. If his parents hate me..would he dump me? Peyton, one of the sophomores, punched me on the shoulder. “You ok lark, you are being oddly quiet?” she asked.
Apparently my name means lark, and that’s some kind of bird. They find it hilarious, so that’s my nickname among the team now.
I nodded, “Yea, just thinking about some things.”
She smiled at me kindly, “Don’t be nervous about tomorrow, you’ll play great. We’re playing some poker, you game?”
“Your ass is going down,” I said laughing
Later:
I stood in the hotel mirror, contemplating my outfit. I went with a white button up shirt with the color folded down and it rolled up to my elbows. I had on a pair of dark, almost black jeans and a pair of black flats. I twisted my hair into a single french braid and put on a thin pair of lipgloss. My palms were already sweaty, I don’t know if I can do this. A knock on the door snapped me into reality, it was Sid. Marissa looked up from her magazine, “Good luck.”
Sidney was wearing a pair of jeans and a white shirt also. I let out a nervous laugh, “We match,”
“What?” he looked down, “Ohh. But you look so much better, in fact you look beautiful.” He laughed putting his hands on my hips. I had to force myself to push him away, “We can’t be late.” I hissed.
We walked down to his car and my foot was tapping nervously the whole time. We drove to his house, him trying to distract me at how nervous I was. Before we got out of the car at his parents house, he put his hand on my knee.
“You’re going to do great Calli. Everyone loves you, and they will be no exception. You’re amazing and nice.” He said staring me in the eyes.
I nodded before getting out. He took my hand and we walked into the house. There were his parents and his sister, sitting on the couch.
His little sister jumped up and hugged him, “It’s great to see you Sid!” she practically yelled.
He smiled at me, “Taylor, this is my girlfriend. Calli, this is my little sister.”
“You know you’re all he talks about now?” she looked at me giggling.
He blushed, “Uh, thanks Taylor. “ I saw his mom get up and I held out my hand. “Hi I’m Ca-“
She smiled at me before pulling me into a hug and kissing both of my cheeks. “Callista, I know. Like Taylor said, you are the only thing he about. We’ve been dying to meet you.”
“Thank you Mrs. Crosby. You can call me Calli if you want.”
She patted my hand, “And you can call me Trina.”
“We’ll call you Callista.” Troy Crosby’s deep voice rang out.
My smile faltered for a second and I made sure it was still pasted on, “Callista’s cool too.” I saw Sidney frown at his father from the corner of my eye, and his grip on my hand tightened. Trina didn’t seem to take notice of her husband and ushered us to the kitchen. We all sat down at the kitchen table.
“Are you two staying the night?” Taylor asked.
“Well, what time do you need to be with the team tomorrow?” Sidney asked me, an encouraging smile on his face.
“Um, the tournament starts at 9:30, so probably around 8:30.” I replied.
Troy looked at me curiously, “What tournament?”
Before I could open my mouth Sidney said proudly, “She plays hockey for the Pittsburgh Panthers.”
I saw Troy frown in displeasure. He hated me.
“What do you play?” Taylor asked excitedly, her eyes burning into mine.
“I play goalie.” I responded some-what nervously.”
“Seriously?! Omg I play goalie too! No one else plays goalie!” She said practically shrieking.
“I bet you’re really good.” I said smiling. Taylor was a great teenager.
“Do you want to see my trophies?”
“Sure.” We both stood up and she grabbed my hand and started running to what I assumed was her room.
“Cals,” Sid stood up, “Are you sure? I’ll come with you..”
I grinned at him, “It’s fine, you talk to your parents.”
Going up the stairs, I could have sworn I heard Troy said in displeased voice, “Sidney we have to talk…”
Oh I'm glad that his mom and sister likes here. And then Troy is just being, Troy. I hope things go well. I LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteGreat chapter.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone make Troy so mean. He's not mean at all.
But it's your story, so the characters can be however you want them.
