Chapter 3

Chapter 3

“We are going to dinner with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Mario Lemuiex and his wife, where do we even start for wearing?”

“Well, I’m wearing that strapless tank top with the flowers on it, and those jean capri’s and flip flops. But you have to wear something more sportsy, because that’s how Sidney fell for you. But also something that makes you look hot…” Raina started digging through my closet.

We decided with a maroon polo from Hollister with a lace white cami poking from underneath. Paired with a jean skirt and my favorite pair of black converse. She put my long, curly thick black hair down and pinned back the bangs. She then accented my light blue eyes with eyeliner and mascara. Raina can make anyone look beautiful, and she always looks perfectly put together at all times. “You have your insulin shots, right?”

She’s also like my mother, ever since she died.

Once we go there, I took a deep breath and my hands were already sweating. Raina looked me I the eyes. “You can do this Cals, I’m right here with you. I promise I won’t let you fall this time.” She grinned. I laughed and pushed open the door, ready now.

Sitting in a table in the back of a semi-private room. There they were. Tyler Kennedy, Kris Letang, Marc-Andre Fleury, Rob Scuderi, Jordan Staal.., and the rest of the team. Sidney’s eyes lit up when he saw us, and Raina elbowed me in the ribs. Mario got up and held out his hand to shake mine.

My hand was shaking, I hope he didn’t notice. “Hello, Mr. Lemeiux, it’s great to meet you and your wife.” I smiled trying to look confident.

“A friend of Sidney’s is a friend of ours, and he mentioned you play goalie for the Pittsburgh Panthers. What high school did you go to?”

I blushed “Mt.Lebanon Senior high.” He seemed to really smile with his eyes now, “When I first came to Pittsburgh, I lived with a family that son’s went there. It seems like a beautiful school..wait, are you Callista Shaw?”

“Yes, but please call me Calli or Cals. I don’t know what was going through my moms mind when she named me Callista.”

“And call me Mario, Calli.”

Sidney motioned for Raina and I to sit next to him. We were so crammed that we were almost touching, whenever our legs touched, tingles went up my spine. Raina, being her out-going self, immediately struck up a conversation with some of the guys.

Max Talbot smiled at me, “You didn’t tell us Sidney that your new friend was smoking hot. I just might have to steal her.”

I felt a blush creep up my neck.  “Aww, she’s embarrassed.” Tyler Kennedy teased.

Sidney rolled his eyes at them, “Just ignore them, they’re just jealous they’re not sitting next to you. It’s typical guy stuff.”

I giggled, “Yeah, I have four older brothers, I’m used to it.” He gave me a long look.

“No, no, they don’t call me hot. It’s when their friends come over that they do that…yepperz awkward.”

He laughed, “Don’t feel awkward, you fit right in. Well, actually you don’t. Your much more hotter then them.”

“Thanks Sid, I know how much you love us!” Kris Letang made fun of him.

Raina gave me the “we are SOO talking about this later” look and I smiled at her. This was going amazingly great. It flew by, the next thing I knew was he was walking Raina and I to her car.

He gave me a small slip of paper, “This is my cell phone number, text me so I can get your number.”

“How do you know that I want to text you?” I teased

“Because I’m incredibly sexy?”

“And so damn modest,” I laughed.

“Seriously though, if you can come to my practice tomorrow, we could go out to lunch tomorrow.” He asked, his warm brown eyes penetrating me.

“Um yea, of course. Yea, that would be great,” I said, trying to keep the excitement from creeping up in my tone.

“Sounds awesome, try not to injure yourself, Calli.” He shut the door, and as soon as he left,  Raina and I couldn’t control ourselves anymore.
